FOUR people have been taken to hospital after a serious crash in Redditch at 8.16am this morning.

A grey Citroen C3 overturned on the Coventry Highway, crossing the central reservation and collided with a lamp post bringing it down.

Two ambulances and a paramedic officer were sent to the scene.

The woman and three children were all treated by ambulance staff for injuries not thought to be serious before being taken to Worcester Royal Hospital for further treatment.

Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service sent crews from Bromsgrove and Redditch to the scene.

Fortunately no-one was trapped in the vehicle which was made safe by firefighters.

West Mercia Police had to close the carriageway in both directions while the scene was being dealt with.

Officers believe a black BMW X5 seen being driven erratically was also involved in the collision and left the scene.

Witnesses or anyone with dash cam footage or information should call police on 101 or visit westmercia.police.uk/tua/tell-us-about/ to report it online.
