WORK to transform a Woodrow play area including installing brand new equipment is set to start.
Redditch Borough Council is replacing old equipment and safety surfacing with new at the Bengrove Road play area, as well as refurbishing the ‘spider climbing’ unit and fencing.
New ‘spider’ ground graphics will also be added to access pathways to encourage safer routes for children.
The work will start on February 5 and take about four weeks, using developer-funded planning contributions known as Section 106 money.
A tree that is too close to the play area is also being removed ahead of the works.
Councillor Pat Witherspoon, Redditch Borough Council’s portfolio holder for Leisure and Tourism, said: “We’re pleased to be making this latest improvement to play areas in the borough.
“Good play facilities are so important to so many people in Redditch and I’m sure the new play area will be well used.”
