Worcester and Mid Worcestershire RSPCA looking for new homes for rescued mice

Redditch Editorial 11th Sep, 2023   0

RSPCA WORCESTER and Mid-Worcestershire Branch is seeking homes for 45 rescued mice, writes Tanya Hewitt.

Claire Wood, from the branch, found the mice in a cardboard box abandoned in an alleyway in Rowley Regis during July 2023.

The mice range from ages of eight weeks to adults and are a horde of both males and females (mostly females).

The multimammate mice were sent to fosterers, however, as these mice tend to be bred for snake food it is ideal they are adopted as pets.

The African soft-furred rats (usually referred to as mice due to their size) have been given Disney themed names including Belle, Jasmine, Merida, Anna, Aurora, Cinderella, Pocahontas, Elsa, Ariel, Eric, Snow White, Tiana, Rapunzel, Moana and Mulan.

Claire said: “We are now looking for loving homes for them in groups of at least four.

“Sadly, we’ve not had much interest in them so far.”

She also hopes that these mice can get the ‘fairytale ending’ they deserve after their abandonment.
