Worcestershire Acute Hospitals Charity celebrates milestone achievement in their Hold the Moment appeal

WORCESTERSHIRE Acute Hospitals Charity reached a major milestone in their Hold the Moment – Maternity Appeal, having raised over three quarters of their target to provide enhancements to maternity services across the trust.

The appeal aims to provide additional jaundice meters for the community midwife teams, buddy beds for the postnatal ward at Worcestershire Royal Hospital, improvements to maternity environments across all three hospital sites and an extension to the maternity bereavement suite, to include a dedicated memory-making space.

The appeal has seen the community come together, with community members taking part in the charity’s Midwife Miles challenge event, where participants raised funds and clocked up the miles a community midwife team travels in a month throughout November and December, with community members also hosting their own fundraisers.

Members of the public have also donated, and the charity has also secured grants from William Cadbury and the Morrisons Foundation.

Sophie Burt, head of fundraising and community development at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals Charity said: “Our sincere thanks to everyone who has supported the appeal so far.

“It has been amazing to have the community come together for their hospitals to help us reach this milestone moment.

“As a charity we aim to enhance the experience for our community, and being well on the way with the appeal brings us that bit closer to providing much needed enhancements across the maternity service, thank you so much for your support.”

With a quarter left to raise the charity will continue fundraising into this year, aiming to complete the appeal in time for implementation by Spring.
