COUNCIL contractors Kelbec are working to resurface the parking areas in Deans Close in Church Hill, the start of a programme which will cover another three closes.
Kelbec then hope to resurface Chedworth Close before Christmas and in January to resurface Acton Close, followed by Cleeve Close. Each element of the project is expected to take approximately three weeks to complete, including relining, dependent on the weather and temperatures.
“The work on these parking areas in Church Hill is well needed,” said environmental services portfolio holder, Councillor Brandon Clayton.
“They are currently in a very poor condition and pose a health and safety risk if left.
“As the project is taking place through the winter months our contractors will start as soon as it is light, so we apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused as they may be noisy and dusty during the day.
“However, the benefits of this work will far outweigh the short-term disruption.”
Council Leader Coun Matt Dormer added: “Having a good standard of parking area is very much an issue in modern day living which can affect quality of life, so I’m pleased we can work with our contractors to make these improvements for our residents.”
Residents are asked to remove any vehicles prior to the start date for their area to reduce access issues and delays to the project.
Notices will be put up in the relevant areas prior to work starting.
