Would-be thieves broke into grounds of Coughton Court in the middle of the night

WOULD-BE thieves in Alcester who broke into the grounds of Coughton Court in the middle of the night broke into a summer house, but stole nothing.

On Saturday night (April 22) the criminals broke into the grounds of the stately home in Brickfield Lane where they entered an insecure marquee in the gardens.

They then took two fire extinguishers from the marquee and used one to smash the glass in a nearby potting shed.

When they failed to get inside the building due to other security measures, they sprayed the contents of the fire extinguisher into the shed before ransacking a wooden summer house.

Nothing was taken in the break in, but anyone who saw anything can contact police on 101, quoting reference 147 of 23 April.
