MATCHBOROUGH First School pupils threw away their pens for the day to focus on verbal communication.
Children and teachers took part in No Pens Wednesday which is organised by the Communication Trust.
All students ditched their pens and pencils to take part in speaking and listening activities such as role play.
A spokeswoman from the school said the day had really boosted pupils’ communication schools.
