WW2 map inspires Redditch Ramblers group to organise a Remembrance Walk

Redditch Editorial 7th Nov, 2017   0

THERE will be a Remembrance Walk taking place in the town, organised by the Redditch Ramblers.

The stroll, on Remembrance Sunday, November 12, will see members of the group lead the walk, using a map from the Second World War.

The map shows where there were Bofers Guns, key wartime factories (HDA, Royal Enfield, Terry’s, Millward’s and Britannia Batteries), road blocks in the event of an invasion, a bomb site, and the war graves in Plymouth Road cemetery and much more, are included on the plan.

A spokesperson for the group said: “It will be an easy walk and everyone is welcome to come along.”

It starts at 9.30am at the outer car park Forge Mill Museum (by Sainburys petrol station).

The two-minute silence will be observed at Stephen’s Church at 11am.

Participants should wear comfortable shoes and bring a packed lunch and drink.
