A WYTHALL family who contacted the Standard about an ‘outrageous’ charge they received from their daughter’s insurance company were issued a refund and an apology.

The family-of -three were charged £200 after cancelling a policy on their daughter’s car.

When the mum queried the charge, insurance company, Wisedriving, referred them to a debt collection agency.

Scared it would leave their daughter with a black mark against her name, the mum paid the charge.

Since the article was published, Wisedriving contacted the family to apologise for the way the case was handled and to refund some of the cash.

The mum said: “We really didn’t expect any money back after fighting this charge for six months.

“We contacted the Standard in the hope it would raise awareness of how this company treated my daughter.

“We were pleasantly surprised to receive £150 back.”

Wisedriving apologised for the way the family was treated, and thanked them for bringing the issue to its attention.

“We’re really pleased to get an apology off Wisedriving.

“They also assured my daughter she wouldn’t have a black mark against her name, as the mistake was there’s.

“I’m glad this issue has been sorted and it can be put to bed.”
