REDDITCH now has its first Squirrels group, thanks to the 1st Matchborough Scouts.
Squirrels groups are aimed at children from four to six, giving them skills for life at a time when it is often most-needed.
On October 17 the new Squirrel leader at 1st Matchborough Scouts, Stacey Wilson, was joined by Coun Emma Marshall, as the youngsters made their Scout Promise.
Each one received their scout neckerchief, a certificate and their own knitted squirrel to take home with them.
Stacey said: “The opening of the section means the group are able make a positive impact on the young people of Redditch earlier in their life.”
The 1st Matchborough Squirrels section meets on Monday nights between 6pm and 7pm to work towards several activity badges and challenge awards, ranging from creative to outdoor. They will also learn skills for life in a way which is age appropriate.
Squirrels are the newest and youngest section to the Scout Association, only launched last year.
1st Matchborough Scouts works with more than 85 children and their families each year, promoting development of young people in a bid to help them achieve their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potentials, as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities.
The 1st Matchborough Scouts was first established on November 13, 1972.
