Your countdown to festive wellness

Redditch Editorial 7th Dec, 2021   0

CHRISTMAS is the most wonderful time of the year and there’s lots of fun to be had, but for many of us it can also be very busy and feel a little overwhelming.

To help you navigate this exciting, yet hectic time, Worcestershire County Council have put together an advent calendar with ‘a way a day’ to keep you and your loved ones well this December.

In the run up to the big day they will be unveiling a daily dose of hints, tips and signposting advice to help you look after yourself and those around you, so that we can all have our best Worcestershire Christmas.

Dr Kathryn Cobain, director of public health for Worcestershire said: “Looking after ourselves is important at any time of the year, but is even more crucial in the busy run up to the festive season.

“So, we’ve launched a wellness advent calendar based on the ‘Five Ways to Wellbeing’.

“Not only does it include ideas of how you can connect and give to others, but it also features advice on how to party and celebrate safely, get outdoors and keep active physically. Plus, there are some suggestions of ways you can take time out to relax and unwind that you may not have tried before.”

Councillor Karen May, cabinet member for health and wellbeing, said: “It can be difficult to remember to prioritise your own health and wellbeing especially during busy times such as December, so this calendar is just what we need to inspire us to take time out for ourselves.

“As well as a reminder to look after yourself the calendar also contains suggestions on how you can reach out to others and spread a little extra kindness and good will this year.”
