THE REDDITCH Federation of Anglers held their annual delegates contest on Saturday at Arrow Valley Lake as 12 federation officers and club delegates took part.

Small skimmers and roach fed well and Mel Salter from the Northfield Veterans club emerged victorious as he fished the pole on peg 55 with mainly pinkies on the hook, catching steadily throughout to finish with a catch of 19lb 1oz.

John Burton from the Astwood Bank club was runner-up, fishing pole and feeder with pellets on peg 56. He had one bream of about 3lb plus small fish for 17lb 5oz.

In third place was Tony Brunn (100 AC) who had 13lb 4oz of skimmers and roach on peg 68.

Section prizes went to two Federation stalwarts as chairman Dave Fisher took the A section with 9lb 1oz and treasurer Roger Burton won section B with 11lb 11oz.

On Saturday, August 16 John Bushell is running an Open match on the lake. For details contact John on 07879 624248.

DARK Lane AC’s River Arrow match on Saturday was won by Tony Avery with six barbel weighing in at 27lb 3oz.

Second was Barry Feldhahn with 11lb 6oz (chub) and third was Steve Aspindale with 8lb 5oz. The section winners were Graham Burford, Max Clarridge and Jamie Aspindale.

ON THE same day it was Throckmorton AC’s day out to Manor Farm where Pete Lewis had top weight with 74lb 8oz.

Second was Barry Harvey with 63lb 9oz and third was Phil O’Donnell with 59lb 12oz.

On Sunday Throckmorton AC’s River Arrow match had many anglers abandoning their pegs after two hours after the river rose rapidly following the torrential rain which made fishing dangerous.

However, Neil Rutter did well to win with 12lb of chub. Second was Phil O’Donnell with 6lb 6oz and third was Pete Lewis with 5lb 1oz. The section winners were Paul Murray and Andy Smith.

MATCHBOROUGH Junior Fishing Club members enjoyed an excellent day’s angling at Cob House Fisheries in Worcester on Saturday which was topped by a club record of 105lb 8oz of carp caught by Ben Tidmarsh who, despite losing his pole in the pool, still managed to pull out an impressive net.

Second was Lewis Wood with 68lb 10oz of carp and third was Josh Baker with 43lb 3oz. Incorporated within the match was an adults and child pairs contest which was won by Helen Wood and her son Lewis with 137lb 1oz.

The club remains on the lookout for new members. For more details contact Rob Wood on 07850 802303 or search for the club on Facebook.
