REDDITCH United secured a third straight win in the league with a 2-1 victory at home to Hitchin Town.

The Reds scored two first-half goals through Jack Byrne and Lewis Hudson before Hitchin netted a late consolation courtesy of Jack Snelus at the Trico Stadium.

And the result means Redditch sit eighth in the Southern League Premier Central table.

Matt Clarke’s side took the lead on three minutes when Byrne planted a superb header into the net via the underside of the crossbar from Max Sheaf’s corner.

And the Reds doubled their advantage on 34 minutes when Hudson reacted quickest to turn home a loose ball after Riley O’Sullivan’s initial effort was saved.

Hitchin reduced the deficit on 88 minutes when Snelus finally found a way past Adam Harrison in the Redditch goal but it proved too little too late as the Reds held on to the points.

Redditch are next in action away at Stratford Town TONIGHT (Tuesday, April 4) with kick-off at 7.45pm at the Arden Garages Stadium.
