PETE Davenport won the Hart Crown Green Bowling Club’s championship trophy with victory against Cameron Cutler in the final.

County bowler Davenport showed his class to beat 20-year-old opponent and former county junior Cutler in an exciting climax to the tournament.

Davenport lost to Kirk Wright in last year’s final and appeared to be in danger of missing out on the trophy once again after falling 16-9 behind.

However, Davenport used his experience to wrestle back control of the game and eventually went on to win 21-19 in a thriller.

Elsewhere, the club’s SWB Over 60’s League Division Two A team won the title with a fine 121-81 victory against Wootton Hall A.

Winning cards from Wright (21-6), captain Mike Estell (21-8), Neil Laxton (21-13), Graham Arnott (21-15) and Steve Lediard (21-18) sealed the title, seven points clear of Kings Norton Ex-Services.

The promotion means Hart return to the top flight after suffering relegation last season.

In the Heart of England Over 60’s League Division One, Hart’s A team remain fifth despite a 120-96 win against Triplex A.

Wright (21-7), Lediard (21-11), Arnott (21-16) and Estell (21-20) all triumphed in their matches to secure victory.

And Hart’s A team have reached the Northfield and District Sunday League Kendrick Trophy final where they will play Division One runners-up Baldwin A at Romsley and Hunnington Bowling Club.

Hart defeated Wythall, Rubery Sheldon, Central Edgbaston and King George V en route to the final.
