ALVECHURCH are now winless in their last six matches in all competitions after slipping to a 2-0 home defeat against Leiston.

Early goals from Jack Manly and Jamar Loza condemned James Fry’s side to a first home league defeat of the season at Lye Meadow.

And the result means Alvechurch sit 17th in the Southern League Premier Central table, one point above the relegation zone.

Leiston broke the deadlock on 13 minutes when Manly picked out the bottom left corner after Loza drove at the home defence.

And the visitors doubled their lead just four minutes later as Loza side-footed the ball past Church goalkeeper Brad Foster from Ross Crane’s through pass.

Church went close to reducing the deficit before the break as Jaanai Gordon’s effort came back off the post from Jack Concannon’s pass.

And Gordon then shot the wrong the side of the post from Josh Dugmore’s excellent delivery moments before the interval.

Leiston stopper Sam Donkin punched Gordon’s looped header to safety in the second period before denying the striker again in the closing stages.

Alvechurch are next in action away at Stourbridge on Saturday, December 2 with kick-off at 3pm at the War Memorial Athletic Ground.
