REDDITCH RFC finished the season with an agonising 36-35 defeat at Evesham II in a high-scoring end to the campaign.

Matt Allen crossed for a hat-trick in vain while Joe Morgan, Mikey Adams and Jon Beale also dotted down as the Kingfishers conceded a last gasp try at Blind Lane.

The result means Redditch finish the Counties 4 Midlands West (South) season in ninth place.

Evesham opened the scoring with a try out wide before Redditch hit back through Morgan after good work from Will Spires and Cal Razzak.

And Allen then set the platform for Adams to score in the corner as Evesham levelled the scores with another try out wide.

Redditch restored their lead when Adams crossed from a dominant scrum only for Evesham to score under the post for the game’s first converted try.

The Kingfishers scored their bonus point try when Allen dotted down his second try with an audacious chip and chase from a quick tap penalty as Will Heath added the extras.

However, Evesham hit back once again to take a two-point lead at the break

Allen completed his hat-trick in the second half from another powerful scrum before Beale caught a kick in his own half before running the distance to the Evesham try line unopposed.

Evesham responded with a try before Archie Beddard used the wind to his advantage to kick a penalty and put the Kingfishers into a six-point lead.

However, in the dying moments, Evesham created an overlap and snuck over the line for a converted try to deny the visitors the points.
