REDDITCH United have completed the signing of young midfielder George Atwal who becomes the club’s first arrival of the summer.
The 20-year-old came through Mickleover’s youth system before moving to Long Eaton United last season where he twice featured against Redditch.
And the midfielder found the net against Barwell, Hitchin Town and Kettering Town last term while also scoring from 25-yards out against Bromsgrove Sporting.
Atwal said: “It’s a great feeling to be honest, as soon as I knew there was some interest my decision was already made. It’s a big club with the ambition to be successful and it’s something I want to be a part of.
“I’d describe myself as a box-to-box midfielder who likes to get on the ball and make things happen.
“I can’t wait to get started and play in front of the fans. When I played against Redditch twice last year the fans were class, so I’m looking forward to it.”
Redditch manager Tim Flowers added: “George is a player that came to our attention from him playing at the back end of last season at Long Eaton, which coincided with them improving quite significantly with some of their results towards the end of the season.
“He’s a central midfield player who’s pretty much an all-rounder really, he’s tidy on the ball, has good energy and is technically a good player who also possesses a decent delivery from set pieces.
“With Aram being injured for a period of time, we need to bolster our midfield options and he’s certainly one that will contribute over the coming months.
“We’re pleased to get him onboard, particularly as there was interest from other parties so we’ve managed to get him over the line fairly quickly. We’re looking forward to working with him and are pleased he’s with us.”
