TANWORTH and Camp Hill recovered from a shaky start to ease to a 99-run victory against Elmley Castle.

TACH recovered from 50-4 to post 214-7 as Dan Williams (63) and Martin Perfect (62 not out) starred with the bat at Kersoe Lane.

And TACH bowler Ben Bryant took four wickets as the visitors bowled out Elmley for just 115 to claim a 99-run win.

The result means Tanworth sit third in the Cotswold Hills League Premier Division table.

The visitors won the toss and opted to bat on a green wicket which offered little bounce throughout the game.

This was demonstrated when Will Bailey (1-19) bowled opener Lee Gill (5) before fellow opener Tom Smith (14) fell to Ian Stowe (3-30).

TACH then lost both Andy Turnbull (2) and Bryant (5) in quick succession as Stowe struck twice to leave the visitors in trouble.

However, Jake Wright (32) and Perfect rebuilt TACH’s innings before Connor Webb (1-43) had the former caught and bowled.

And Oscar Newell (4) then edged behind off Gus Barnes (1-27) which brought Williams to the crease with TACH on 136.

Williams attacked from the off as he and Perfect both reached and passed half-centuries, the former falling to the penultimate ball of the innings as TACH finished on 214-7.

In reply, Bryant (4-32) and Seth Jordan (2-16) ripped through Elmley’s top order as the home side’s first four batters fell without reaching double figures.

Jordan accounted for Ned Meredith (0) and Guy Davies (5) while Bryant trapped both Will Gregory (6) and Stowe (3) LBW and then bowled Tom Benham (10).

And Bryant claimed his fourth wicket after removing Webb (5) as Elmley slipped to 45-6.

Newell (1-30) was next to strike before Tim Keyte (1-21) and Tom Smith (2-14) cleaned up Elmley’s tail order to seal a 99-run victory.

Tanworth and Camp Hill are next in action against Lapworth on Saturday, July 20 with the game to begin at 12.30pm.
