RISING Redditch prospect Simon Ibekwe has been sparring with former Heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua in the lead up to the latter’s upcoming world title fight.
Heavyweight Ibekwe is 3-0 in the professional ranks and two-time heavyweight champion Joshua selected the Redditch fighter as one of his sparring partners as the latter attempts to claim a third world title next month.
Ibekwe has trained in Joshua’s camp for the last three weeks ahead of the latter’s upcoming IBF world title fight against fellow Brit Daniel Dubois on Saturday, September 21 at Wembley Stadium.
The Redditch heavyweight has won two of his three professional fights via knockout and is currently preparing for his next fight on October 5 in Birmingham.
Ibekwe trains out of Mannings Gym in Birmingham and Athena Performance in Redditch and also works as a supply teacher at St Augustine’s High School.
He juggles a demanding training schedule around full-time work to support his family.
