SPORTING Club Inkberrow returned to winning ways with a 2-1 victory against 10-man Westfields.

Goals from Gregor Guy and Jay Higgins-Pugsley saw Inkberrow complete a late turnaround at Sands Road.

That came after Daniel Stoneman put Westfields ahead before the game turned on Sam Hunt’s red card just past the hour mark.

The result means Sporting sit fourth in the Hellenic League Premier Division table, six points clear of the chasing pack in the race for a play-off spot.

Westfields broke the deadlock on 25 minutes when Stoneman finished from 12-yards out following a counter attack.

Inkberrow improved after the break and took command of the game after Hunt picked up a second yellow card for the visitors on 65 minutes after kicking the ball away.

And Sporting made the most of the extra man to draw level on 75 minutes as Guy headed in Max-Emilios Angelides’ cross from close range.

Inkberrow completed the turnaround seven minutes later when Higgins-Pugsley finished through the legs of Keiron Blackburn from substitute Louis Crook’s defence-splitting pass.

Sporting Club Inkberrow are next in action against Malmesbury Victoria on Saturday, March 1 with kick-off at 3pm at Sands Road.
