REDDITCH Borough Women completed a league double over local rivals Redditch United Women after claiming a 2-0 derby win.

A brace from Bobbi-Lea Birch earned Borough the bragging rights at the Valley Stadium.

The result means Borough sit one point clear at the top of the West Midlands Regional League Division One South table with the club yet to lose a league game this season.

And United sit fifth in the table after seeing their four-game winning run come to an end.

Borough controlled the game in the first 20 minutes with few clear-cut chances at either end.

United grew into the game thereafter with neither side able to break the deadlock before the break.

Chances remained at a premium in the second half before Birch headed Esther Lau-Mackaay’s corner towards goal only to see her effort cleared off the line following a scramble in the box.

However, Borough eventually broke the deadlock one minute from time when Birch collected Maisie McDonnell’s pass and raced into the box before finishing past the United goalkeeper when one-on-one.

And Birch sealed the points for Borough in injury time with a fine finish from the edge of the penalty area from substitute Liberty Windsor’s pass.
