LOUIS Crook scored a brace as Sporting Club Inkberrow claimed a hard-fought 2-1 victory against bottom club Malmesbury Victoria.

Crook netted twice before the break to put Sporting in command as Thomas Moore reduced the deficit for the visitors at Sands Road.

The result means Sporting sit fourth in the Hellenic League Premier Division table with Inkberrow closing in on a play-off spot.

Sporting broke the deadlock on 13 minutes when Crook’s shot from the edge of the penalty area found the net.

And Crook struck again midway through the first half following a pinpoint crossfield pass from Jay Higgins-Pugsley.

Sporting went in search of a third goal which they failed to find before Smith finished from the penalty spot for the visitors to set up a tense finale.

Inkberrow survived another penalty appeal and a couple of goalmouth scrambles to come away with the points.

Sporting Club Inkberrow are next in action against Fairford Town on Tuesday, March 4 with kick-off at 7.45pm at Cinder Lane.
