MATT Clarke admits his Redditch United players must ‘stick together’ following a 2-0 defeat away at Stamford in midweek.
Goals from Tobias Liversidge and James Blunden either side of half time saw the Reds slip to a fifth straight defeat on the road at the Zeeco Stadium.
The result means Redditch sit 17th in the Southern League Premier Central table, six points above the relegation zone.
And Clarke admits his side must find a way to improve their recent form ahead of a trip to local rivals Alvechurch this weekend.
Clarke said: “We changed shape to deal with their threat, we went a little bit bigger and more direct, we wanted to play percentage football.
“It was working for 43 minutes, we looked strong defensively and then we make a really bad decision, a really bad mistake and we’re up against it.
“I can’t fault the boys for the work rate but we didn’t really look a threat, I don’t think we had a shot on target, we struggled in the final third.
“And we conceded from another set-play which is how it’s been over the last few months.
“It’s a big local derby [against Alvechurch], we don’t have a great record there, it’s two teams not in great form.
“The results haven’t been good enough, especially away from home, I’ve been around the block long enough to know it’s a result business and we haven’t done that.
“We’ve got to find a way, the group have got to stick together and keep working hard, we’ve just got to find a way to get a result.”
Stamford broke the deadlock four minutes before half time as Liversidge saw his effort from 20-yards out deflect past Ollie Taylor.
And the home side doubled their lead seven minutes after the break when Blunden headed in a floated corner from the right after Taylor failed to claim the cross.
Redditch are next in action against local rivals Alvechurch on Saturday, March 8 with kick-off at 3pm at Lye Meadow.
