REDDITCH United conceded a penalty deep into injury time in a 1-1 draw against title hopefuls Bedford Town.

The Reds were pegged back at the death as Leon Lobjoit scored from the penalty spot after Anthony Dwyer put the home side ahead.

More than 1,400 fans attended the fixture at the Valley Stadium after Redditch made the game free entry for all.

The result means the Reds sit 17th in the Southern League Premier Central table, five points above the relegation zone.

Redditch broke the deadlock on 63 minutes when Dwyer controlled debutant Rivel Mardenborough’s cross from the left and coolly finished past Jameson Horlick from six-yards out.

However, with the Reds moments away from securing a priceless victory, Dexter Dudley-Toole barged Edward Panter to the ground in the box and the referee pointed to the spot.

Despite furious Redditch protests, Lobjoit stepped up to fire the resulting penalty down the middle of the goal and rescue a point for the visitors five minutes into injury time.

Redditch are next in action against Coventry City in the Birmingham Senior Cup quarter-finals on Monday, March 17 with kick-off at 7.45pm at the Valley Stadium.
