A BRACE from Sean Brain sealed a home semi-final for Redditch Borough in the play-offs following a 2-1 victory against Bewdley Town.
Brain struck either side of half time for Borough after Elliott Lees had drawn the visitors level before the break at Cherry Tree Walk.
The result means Redditch have now secured a second-place finish in the Hellenic League Division One table with one league fixture left to play.
Redditch broke the deadlock on 16 minutes when Brain drove a low effort into the net after Bewdley only half cleared a free-kick.
Bewdley equalised on 39 minutes when a Redditch defender went down in the box and Lees took the ball around the goalkeeper before finishing into an empty net.
Despite furious Redditch protests, the referee allowed the goal to stand.
The visitors then lost Joe Bevan to the sin-bin after the referee felt the Bewdley man threw the ball in his direction when attempting to return the ball to Borough.
However, Borough reclaimed the lead on 69 minutes when Brain finished through a crowd of bodies with Town goalkeeper Kai Lloyd only able to parry an initial effort into the scorer’s path.
Borough have now guaranteed a home semi-final in the play-offs with the remaining three spots still up for grabs.
Redditch finish the season with a home game against Clanfield 85 on Saturday, April 12 with kick-off at 3pm at Cherry Tree Walk.
