ALVECHURCH saw their Easter Monday game against Stratford Town abandoned after two players and a supporter required hospital treatment.

Church’s on-loan defender Isaac Godwin sustained a broken leg early in the second period at the Arden Garages Stadium and was stretchered from the field.

Godwin’s grandfather collapsed and was also taken to hospital.

And Stratford striker Jack Storer suffered from chest problems later in the second half and also required hospital treatment.

The referee abandoned the game after 77 minutes.

Stratford led 3-0 at the time of the abandonment as Storer opened the scoring before Charlie Williams netted a brace.

The league will now make a decision as to whether or not the game needs to be replayed.

That came after Church ended their eight-game winless run in all competitions with a 4-1 victory against already-relegated Hitchin Town at Lye Meadow on Good Friday.

Goals from Callum Sullivan and Kieran Wakefield put the hosts in command before Lewis Franklin reduced the deficit.

However, Archie Crowther restored Church’s two-goal cushion before Wakefield’s penalty completed the scoring.
