TANWORTH and Camp Hill CC made a winning start to the season with a dominant 144-run victory against newly-promoted Adlestrop.

Adlestrop won the toss and elected to bowl as home captain Sam Keen (5-65) made a couple of early breakthrough.

The Adlestrop skipper accounted for opener Lee Gill (8) and Martin Perfect (0).

However, Andy Turnbull (29) and Jake Wright (31) combined for a 53-run third-wicket partnership.

Quick wickets from Alex Kelly (1-42) and Simon Plant (1-18) left TACH on 85-4 before overseas signing Joel Ithier came to the crease.

Ithier (56) scored a fine half-century and combined well with James Carey (39) and Dan Williams (14) to boost TACH’s total.

Keen returned to the attack to claim the scalps of Carey, Williams and Ithier on his way to a five-for.

A late innings blast from Sam Jones (21 not out) saw TACH close on 244-7 from their 45 overs.

Adlestrop made a bright start in reply through opener Keen (63) but the home captain had little in the way of support.

He was also the only Adlestrop to reach double figures as the hosts slumped from 66-3 to 100 all out.

Wright (3-1), Tom Longe (2-25), Turnbull (2-32) and Jones (1-12) claimed the wickets as TACH secured a dominant victory.

The result means Tanworth sit top of the Cotswold Hills League Premier Division table after one fixture.

Tanworth and Camp Hill are next in action against Alcester and Ragley on Saturday, May 10 with the game to start at 12.30pm at Tanworth Lane.
