REDDITCH Borough Women completed a league and cup double with a hard-fought 2-0 victory against Long Itchington.

Goals from Maisie McDonnell and Bobbi-Lea Birch after the break secured the league title for Redditch at Cherry Tree Walk.

The victory clinched the title for Borough who still have one game left to play in the West Midlands Regional League Division One South this season.

And the win means Redditch can celebrate a league and cup double after beating Walsall Women in the Division One Cup final earlier this month.

The first half proved a nervy affair as Borough goalkeeper Katie Box and Long Itchington stopper Abigail Hutton kept the game scoreless at the break.

However, Redditch eventually broke the deadlock midway through the second half when McDonnell pounced on a loose ball to curl a shot past Hutton.

And Borough sealed the points and the title with 10 minutes left to play as Birch fired home following a scramble in the box.

Redditch saw out eight minutes of injury time to secure promotion and the title with one game left to play.

Borough are also undefeated in the league this season with 13 wins and four draws from 17 matches.
