FOOTBALL - Tim Flowers frustrated by 'soft' goals in Alvechurch defeat

TIM Flowers felt his Alvechurch side conceded ‘soft’ goals in a 2-1 home defeat against 10-man Stratford Town.

Church slipped to defeat against the Bards at Lye Meadow as Jessy Bavanganga scored a late goal for the home side.

That came after Henry Landers and Dan Lafferty put the Bards in command before Josh Roney saw red for the home side just past the hour mark.

And Flowers felt his side looked weak defensively in defeat against then bottom club Stratford who picked up their first points of the season with victory at Lye Meadow.

Flowers said: “I didn’t feel Stratford laid a glove on us. They scored from two individual errors.

“We can’t concede goals like that. It’s soft, it’s weak, we’ve got people in no man’s land doing nothing, not reading the game and making poor decisions.

“They’ve not really done anything to us. It was a story of having all the possession but not really working the goalkeeper.

“We need to do better. We’ve tossed the points away. We’ll get back to work and work on our weaknesses.

“It’s a long season. It’s horrible, it’s a disgusting division at times and we’ve been caught napping at times in the games we’ve lost.”

Alvechurch play Barwell in the FA Cup on Saturday, August 30 with kick-off at 3pm at Lye Meadow.
