GOALKEEPER Gabriel Bajrami saved three penalties in the shootout as Sporting Club Inkberrow claimed a historic victory in the FA Trophy against St Neots Town.
Bajrami proved the hero for Inkberrow in the first round qualifying tie at Sands Road as Sporting marked their first-ever Trophy tie with a victory.
The goalkeeper made three saves in the penalty shootout following a goalless draw in regulation time as Inkberrow triumphed 3-1 on spot kicks.
Neither side could break the deadlock after 90 minutes which saw the game go to penalties.
And Bajrami saved St Neots first three penalties with Jay Higgins-Pugsley and Noah Rubio on target for the home side.
However, Inkberrow failed to convert their next two penalties before Nathan Benson drilled his spot kick into the bottom left corner to seal Sporting’s place in second round qualifying.
Sporting Club Inkberrow are next in action against Hartpury on Saturday, September 13 with kick-off at 3pm at Hartpury University.
