REDDITCH RFC claimed their first league win of the season with a 43-12 bonus point victory at Kidderminster Carolians II.
Tries from Joe Morgan, Jack Mertens, Tom Dickens, Richie Beddard and Archie Beddard and two from Clarke Parker, sealed a convincing victory for the Kingfishers at Marlpool Lane.
The result means Redditch sit fourth in the Counties 4 Midlands West (South) table.
Redditch scored the game’s first try as Morgan touched down after Michael O’Donnell cut through the Kidderminster defence.
And Mertens then finished off an attacking drive as A Beddard kicked both conversions to put Redditch into a 14-point lead.
However, Kidderminster responded with two tries of their own, the second coming while Redditch had a player in the sin-bin, as the Kingfishers led by two points at the break.
Redditch ran in five unanswered tries after the interval to take the game out of Kidderminster’s reach as Parker ran in from distance to score in the corner.
And Redditch’s pack then combined from a lineout to set up Dickens who scored the away side’s bonus point try.
The Kingfishers scored from another catch and drive soon after as R Beddard touched down.
And A Beddard then dotted down under the posts after Mertens collected Will Spires’ kick and ran with the ball for 50 metres beating two defenders before feeding Beddard who touched down.
Parker completed the scoring for Redditch with his second try of the game after he combined with Morgan as the Kingfishers kept a clean sheet in the second period despite ending the game with 14-men.
Redditch are next in action against Keresley in the Central Plate Cup on Saturday, September 20 with kick-off at 3pm at Bromsgrove Road.
