ALVECHURCH geared up for an FA Cup showdown against Chelmsford City this weekend with a goalless draw at rivals Worcester City.

Church stretched their unbeaten run to six matches in all competitions following a stalemate at Sixways Stadium in midweek.

The result means Church sit third in the Southern League Premier Central table, four points behind unbeaten league leaders Harborough Town.

Church boss, Tim Flowers said: “I didn’t think either team did enough to win. We certainly didn’t.

“That’s five clean sheets on the belt by the way. That’s a phenomenal effort. There’s not many teams who have got that record in  any league.

“In terms of creating and being a threat at the other end, we didn’t do enough. We moved the ball around without any penetration.

“Never ever disrespect a point. We’re undefeated away from home coming to the end of September. It’s a tremendous record.

“The boys are doing terrifically well, it’s a young group. They’ve started the season well.”

Alvechurch host Chelmsford in FA Cup third round qualifying on Saturday, September 27 with kick-off at 3pm at Lye Meadow.
