TIM Flowers admits Alvechurch must take their medicine after missing a hatful of chances in their FA Cup defeat against Chelmsford City.

Church suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat against the National League South side as former Football League striker Lyle Taylor netted a brace at Lye Meadow.

And Flowers bemoaned Alvechurch’s ability to put the ball in the net after his side missed a number of chances after the break.

Flowers said: “We completely dominated the second half but we’re guilty of missing umpteen chances which has reared its head this season.

“We were totally on the front foot. I’m really pleased with pretty much everything I’ve seen other than the suckerpunch.

“If I’m an Alvechurch supporter, I would be really enthused with what I’m seeing and I hope that’s the case.

“The players are playing some lovely football. That’s the first goal we’ve conceded in September.

“We are creating shed loads of chances, it’s an exciting watch but we’re guilty of passing up too many chances.

“There’s a hell of a lot of positives. We’ve knocked over quite a few teams with far bigger resources than we’ve got this season.

“I’m immensely proud of them. It was a really good performance but if you miss your chances you have to take your medicine.”

Alvechurch travel to Basford United in the FA Trophy on Saturday, October 4 with kick-off at 3pm at Greenwich Avenue.
