REDDITCH Borough suffered a heavy 5-1 defeat against Malvern Town to exit the Worcestershire Senior Cup at the first round stage.

Goals from Charlie Johnson, Levi Francis, Ben Hayes, Alex Bell and Miles Ferguson helped the Hillsiders to a dominant win at the HDAnywhere Community Stadium.

Redditch play two levels below Malvern who ply their trade in the Southern League Division One South.

And the Hillsiders made a blistering start, scoring four goals in the opening 33 minutes to leave the visitors stunned.

Malvern took the lead after just eight minutes when Johnson nodded in a corner from close range.

And the home side doubled their lead on 16 minutes as Francis collected Johnson’s throw-in, jinked past a defender and smashed a shot into the bottom corner.

Malvern extended their lead just past the half-hour mark when Francis found Clark in the box who in turn squared the ball to Hayes who tapped home from close range.

And the Hillsiders struck again moments later as Bell finished under the Redditch goalkeeper from close range to all but end the game as a contest.

Malvern scored their fifth goal on 58 minutes as Ferguson nodded in a free-kick from the right from close range.

Borough scored a consolation goal with 10 minutes left to play but it proved too little too late.
