ALVECHURCH scored two late goals to remain within touching distance of the top of the table with a 2-0 victory against Kettering Town.
A late penalty from Tope Obadeyi put the home side ahead before Thomas Conteh sealed the points deep into injury time at Lye Meadow.
The result means Alvechurch sit second in the Southern League Premier Central table, one point behind leaders Harborough Town who also have a game in-hand.
Church boss Tim Flowers had his substitutes to thank for the victory as both Obadeyi and Conteh entered the fray after the hour mark.
Conteh also played his part in the home side’s opening goal after he drew a foul from Kettering captain Anthony Stewart in the box.
And Obadeyi kept his cool from the sport to find the bottom right corner with one minute left to play.
Church sealed the points six minutes into injury time when Obadeyi broke from a Kettering corner and played the ball into the path of Conteh who rolled a shot into an empty net after Kettering sent goalkeeper Jason Alxander up for a corner.
The win also saw Church record a fifth consecutive clean sheet in the league.
Alvechurch are next in action against Quorn on Tuesday, October 14 with kick-off at 7.45pm at Lye Meadow.
