ALVECHURCH have now gone more than seven hours without scoring a goal after losing 1-0 at league leaders Harborough Town.
Church held firm for long periods only for Alex Morris to break the away side’s resistance with 10 minutes left to play at the Community Football Ground.
The results means Alvechurch sit 11th in the Southern League Premier Central table, six points outside of the play-off places.
Church have now lost their last five league matches and have failed to score in regulation time in their last five outings in all competitions.
Tim Flowers’ side went close early on as Harborough goalkeeper Elliott Taylor helped Kieran Wakefield’s early effort behind.
And Szhem Whyte-Hall then headed narrowly wide as Church had the better chances in the first period.
Taylor produced a couple of crucial saves in quick succession after the break to twice deny Whyte-Hall and keep the scores level.
And Harborough made the visitors pay for those missed chances on 80 minutes as Morris turned the ball home from 10-yards out.
That came after Church failed to deal with George Carline’s long throw into the box and Redman Evans made two saves as Morris eventually forced the ball home
The home side almost doubled their lead moments later as Luis Rose saw his effort clip the post with Evans beaten.
Church pushed for an equaliser deep into injury time put could not find a way past Harborough goalkeeper Taylor.
Alvechurch are next in action against Real Bedford in the FA Trophy on Saturday, November 15 with kick-off at 3pm at Lye Meadow.
