KYLE Storer felt Alvechurch showed ‘tremendous character’ to come from behind and reach the fourth round of the FA Trophy.

Church came from two goals down to take National League North side Alfreton Town to penalties at Lye Meadow.

And Alvechurch triumphed 4-1 in the shootout to reach the fourth round of the competition for the first time in their history.

Church will face National League club Yeovil Town in the fourth round and Storer believes his side can prove a match for anyone on their day.

Storer said: “I’m over the moon with the character the boys showed.

“It was tough at half time. A few home truths had to come out.

“The boys showed tremendous character and resilience against a side in the league above.

“We fully deserved it in the end and were unlucky not to win it in the 90 minutes.

“We were magnificent in the second half, it was exciting to watch, it was a proper cup tie.

“I’m proud of my team. If we apply ourselves right, we’re a match for anyone.”
