ALCESTER RFC’s first team saw their weekend fixture postponed due to a frozen pitch owing to the effects of Storm Goretti.

The club’s fixture against Kidderminster Carolians will now take place on Saturday, January 31.

However, the club’s 2nd XV romped to a 62-3 victory against Trinity Guild as the game survived the wintry conditions.

Alcester cruised to a nine-try victory to complete a league double over Trinity.

Centre Lewis Walker crossed for a hat-trick while Pav Sembakuttige and Owen Binns both crossed twice.

Further tries from Jamie Clarke and Richie Beddard ensured Alcester’s second XV made the perfect start to the New Year while Archie Beddard kicked seven conversions and a penalty.

Former first team regular Louis Smith made his first appearance of the season while captain Luke Spencer also made his return from injury as a second-half substitute.

Walker scored the game’s first try as A Beddard converted before Trinity kicked a penalty to reduce the deficit.

Alcester crossed for a second try through Clarke and A Beddard kicked a penalty to send the home side into the break with a 12-point lead.

And the hosts added two further tries to earn a bonus point early in the second half before crossing five more times to seal a comprehensive victory.

Alcester’s first XV are next in action against Camp Hill on Saturday, January 17 with kick-off at 2.15pm at Kings Coughton.

Alcester’s second XV travel to unbeaten Shipston-on-Stour II on Saturday, January 17 with kick-off at 2.15pm at Mayo Road.
