LIAM Loughlan scored the only goal as Redditch United ended a run of five games without a win with a 1-0 victory at struggling Stourbridge.
Loughlan struck five minutes after the break at the War Memorial Athletic Ground to help the Reds claim a first win since the turn of the year.
The result means Redditch sit sixth in the Southern League Premier Central table, one point outside of the play-off places.
Stourbridge went closest in the first half as Tyrese Warmington reacted sharply to tip Jai Verma’s rising effort over the crossbar.
And Warmington then produced a stunning fingertip stop to deny Tom Edge from just inside the penalty area as the game remained goalless at the break.
However, Redditch made a quick start to the second half and took the lead on 50 minutes when Tyler Bruck cut the ball back to Loughlan who placed a low effort past Charlie Price from 12-yards out.
The home side spurned a glorious chance to draw level after Warmington spilled Verma’s free-kick into the path of Aaron Bishop who somehow blazed over the bar from inside the six-yard box.
United almost doubled their lead late on as Bruck saw his effort tipped over the bar by Price at full stretch as the Reds held on to take the points.
Redditch are next in action against Halesowen Town on Saturday, January 31 with kick-off at 3pm at the Valley Stadium.
