ALVECHURCH missed the chance to move away from the drop zone following a 2-1 home defeat against relegation rivals Stourbridge in midweek.
Late goals from Charlie Pavey, who scored from the penalty spot, and Liam Brazier put Stour two goals ahead at Lye Meadow.
Church halved the deficit two minutes from time when Emmanuel Ilesanmi found the net but Kyle Storer’s side could not find an equaliser.
The result leaves Church 17th in the Southern League Premier Central table, above the relegation zone on goal difference.
Stour broke the deadlock on 70 minutes when Pavey sent Redman Evans the wrong way from the spot after the scorer drew a foul in the box.
And the visitors doubled their lead on 83 minutes as Brazier received a pass in the box, rounded the goalkeeper and finished into an empty net.
Church responded four minutes later when substitute Ilesanmi found the net but the home side failed to find a leveller in the remaining time.
Alvechurch travel to Banbury United on Saturday, March 7 with kick-off at 3pm at Spencer Stadium.
