ALCESTER RFC claimed a first-ever league victory at Ledbury with a 31-26 victory to complete a league double over their opponents.
The win at Ross Road leaves Alcester second in the Counties 1 Midlands West (South) table.
Ledbury scored the game’s first try only for Alcester to hit back through a try from Will Silk which Ed Gough converted.
And Jamie Harland scored the away side’s second try from a lengthy run as Gough’s conversion sent Alcester into the break with a seven-point lead.
Alcester stretched their lead after the interval as Lewis Wright crossed for the away side’s third try only for Ledbuy to respond with a converted try of their own.
However, the visitors secured a bonus point when James Lampitt dotted down out wide before Wright crossed for his second try to put Alcester in command.
Ledbury scored a second converted try and struck again soon after despite playing with a man less.
The visitors also lost a player to the sin-bin and Ledbury pounced to move back within one score of the away side as Alcester held on to take the points.
Alcester are next in action against Leamington on Saturday, March 28 with kick-off at 3pm at Kings Coughton.
