REDDITCH United suffered an agonising penalty shootout defeat after pushing National League side Tamworth all the way in the semi-finals of the Birmingham Senior Cup.

The Reds led through Alex Foreshaw’s header only for Adam Jasper’s brace and a Michael Reindorf strike to put the home side in command at the Lamb Ground.

United staged a comeback as Haydn Hollis put through his own net before Aram Soleman’s injury-time screamer sent the game to a shootout.

However, Tamworth goalkeeper Jas Singh proved the hero as he made two saves to deny the Reds a place in the final.

Redditch made the perfect start as Foreshaw looped a header into the net after just four minutes from Liam Loughlan’s right-wing corner.

However, Tamworth equalised just four minutes later as Jasper volleyed in a cross from the left at the near post from close range.

And the Lambs completed the turnaround in first-half injury time when Jasper turned home another low cross from the right.

The home side looked to have booked their place in the final on 59 minutes as Reindorf poked a shot into the net from six-yards out.

United were handed a lifeline on 71 minutes when Hollis misjudged a backpass and diverted the ball into his own net under little pressure.

And the Reds forced a shootout five minutes into injury time as Soleman lashed a stunning effort into the right corner of the goal from 30-yards out to stun the home side.

The trio of Liam Loughlan, Danny King and Tyler Bruck all scored for the Reds in the shootout only for Morgan Owen and Soleman to see their efforts saved by Singh.

Tamworth scored their first three penalties before Joe Neeson denied Tom McGlinchey from the spot only for Hollis to score the decisive penalty as the Lambs triumphed 4-3 on spot kicks.

Redditch are next in action against Leiston on Friday, April 3 with kick-off at 3pm at the Valley Stadium.
