REDDITCH United’s season ended in disappointment after the Reds missed out on a play-off place on goal difference despite a 5-0 win against 10-man Quorn.

A hat-trick from Liam Loughlan and further goals from Alex Cameron and Robbie Bunn earned the Reds a dominant final day victory at the Valley Stadium.

Quorn had Deen Master sent off early on for a deliberate handball on the line which denied the Reds a certain goal.

However, wins for Kettering Town and Halesowen Town meant United missed out on a top-five finish on goal difference.

The Reds ended the campaignon 70 points with a goal difference of +9 with play-off bound Halesowen on the same number of points but with a superior +25 goal difference.

Redditch ended the Southern League Premier Central table in seventh place.

The visitors lost Master to a red card on 16 minutes as the defender made a flying save with his hand to prevent Cameron’s header from finding the net.

And the Reds opened the scoring from the resulting penalty as Loughlan sent former United goalkeeper Adam Harrison the wrong way from the penalty spot.

Redditch doubled their lead on 35 minutes when Cameron nodded in Loughlan’s corner from the right from close range.

The home side extended their lead after the break on 59 minutes when Bunn turned Liam Loughran’s cutback into the net from 10-yards out.

United increased their lead on 69 minutes as Loughlan scored his second of the game directly from a corner as his set-piece from the right drifted over Harrison and into the net.

And Loughlan completed his hat-trick seven minutes from time sent Harrison the wrong way again from the spot after Loughran drew a foul in the box.

However, Halesowen’s thumping 5-0 win against AFC Sudbury and Kettering’s 1-0 victory at Bury Town denied the Reds a top-five finish.
