REDDITCH middleweight Carl Dickens makes his return to the ring next month determined to bounce back from the first defeat of his professional career.
‘The Wallop’ saw a five-bout winning streak ended by Brighton’s Nicky Jenman at Villa Park in February, but the Winyates East boxer says he has learned valuable lessons from the hardest fight of his career so far and is relishing his return to the ring.
Dickens, 31, is midway through his six-week training camp for the July 4 fight at Walsall Town Hall and will again be backed by his loyal legion of fans as he bids to get his bid for a Masters belt back on track with victory on a night of boxing dubbed ‘Independence Day’.
Dickens, who is sponsored by Passion VIP of Birmingham and IDM Electrical of Redditch, said: “It’s great to be boxing at a different venue and, as I have said before I won’t be proving the doubters wrong, I will be proving the believers right.
“I can’t wait to give a good performance for my loyal fans.”
