Reds raring to go after weather woes

REDDITCH United are finally set to return to Southern League Premier Division action on Saturday with a testing clash at King’s Lynn Town.

The Reds, frustrated by the postponements due to a waterlogged Valley Stadium pitch of both Saturday’s home game against leaders Poole Town and Monday’s clash against lowly Frome Town, are still in the play-off positions as they head to Norfolk.

Many of the Reds’ challengers for a top five finish suffered defeats over the past week so Liam McDonald’s side – with numerous games in hand on their rivals – have their play-off fate firmly in their own hands.

However, table-topping Poole did move 11 points clear of United – having played three games more – thanks to their 2-0 home win over Weymouth on Tuesday.

Ninth placed King’s Lynn have won nine home games in the league this season so United are likely to need a top drawer performance in order to return home with maximum points, which would leave them in good heart heading into Monday’s home game against Dunstable Town, who are currently third – three points above the Reds having played four more games.

Meanwhile, boss McDonald confirmed star midfielder Jamey Osborne continues to attract Football League interest but for the time being there is no deal on the table to take him away from the Valley.
