Seven-a-side glory for St Bede's girls

ST BEDE’S Catholic Middle School’s year seven girls’ team turned on the style as they won the Redditch District Seven-a-side Football Tournament.

The girls played fantastically well, winning their first three games and drawing the last match.

Their first match against Walkwood ended in a 3-2 victory thanks to a hat-trick from Mya Cattell.

Next up was a match against Ridgeway and goals from Lucy Hatfield, Cattell and Olivia Dormer secured a 3-1 win.

Two more goals from Cattell and further strikes from Codie Holland and Dormer then sealed a 4-1 success against Birchensale, leaving St Bede’s and Ipsley to battle it out for top spot in the final game.

The match finished 0-0, with Cattell unlucky not to score when she hit the post in the first half.

St Bede’s and Ipsley finished level on points and also could not be separated by their head-to-head record, but St Bede’s were crowned champions by virtue of scoring ten goals in the competition to Ipsley’s seven.

Congratulations go to the St Bede’s squad, which featured captain Olivia Dormer, Codie Holland, Bethany Platt, Mya Cattell, Lucy Hatfield, Chloe Cresswell, Grace Baker, Paulina Jurkowska, Maja Berk and Rosie Mills.
