Tigers savour British Championships success

Redditch Editorial 8th Dec, 2016 Updated: 8th Dec, 2016   0

REDDITCH Tigers enjoyed more trophy success at the British Tae Kwon-Do Championships at Derby.

It was a first competition to remember for young Maddison Ridgewell who finished third in her age group, whilst Mark Roberts was runner-up after narrowly missing out on top spot and Wahid Akhtar finished third as he won a hard fought contest.

Maddie Adkins continued her impressive year which saw her win a world title in June at Red Belt level before gaining her Black Belt in October to move up into the Black Belt division at the British Championships.

After being knocked to the floor in her first round fight, she rallied to become British champion.

There was more success for the Adkins family as Maddie’s brother Ty clinched second place in the tag team event.

Instructor Mark Clews said: “We would like to congratulate all of our students, whether they have won or not, on their fantastic efforts during the year.”
