STUDLEY’S miserable start to the Warwickshire League Premier Division season continued as they were thumped by 206 runs at Bedworth on Saturday.

The hosts piled up 303 all out including a century from Matt Pickering despite Studley duo Charlie Bass and Luke Deeprose both taking 3-50 and Scott Shepherd taking 3-4 off the five balls he bowled.

Only four visiting players made double figures in reply as captain Jack Williams top scored with 20 in a total of 97.

Studley, who have lost all four matches, host Rugby on Saturday.

FECKENHAM netted their second win of the Worcestershire League Division One season as they defeated visitors Pedmore by 71 runs.

The hosts were put into bat and failed to bat their full allocation of overs as they were dismissed for 206 off 48 overs.

Jamie Griffiths top scored with 42 and Andrew Kings, William Davies, Josh Stacey and Yasir Mehmood all made contributions of 20-plus for the Millers.

Feckenham’s total was more than enough thanks to opening bowlers Tom Coulson and Matt Henning, who claimed 4-53 and 3-47 respectively at three runs per over, to keep Pedmore well and truly in check.

The visitors were dismissed for 135 in the 38th over, securing 24 points for the Millers who sit sixth with 55 points ahead of Saturday’s visit to local rivals Redditch.

ALVECHURCH & HOPWOOD kept pace with the leading sides in Worcestershire League Division Three as they inflicted a first defeat of the campaign on Himbleton.

Victory was far from straightforward for Alvechurch in a low-scoring encounter though as the visitors looked in danger of falling short of a 144 victory target.

An excellent bowling performance appeared to have set the platform for victory as Christian Battelley (4-38) and John Pinsent (4-14) starred.

However, Adam Markham-Jones’ side slumped to 94-6 in reply and it took a crucial unbeaten 64 from Edd Rodgers to guide them to 144-6 in the 31st over.

Fourth placed Alvechurch, who collected 20 points, entertain Martley on Saturday.
