Bank are back in the title race

Redditch Editorial 6th Sep, 2017   0

ASTWOOD BANK’S Birmingham League Division Three title hopes were reignited on a highly profitable Saturday.

Whilst Steve Adshead’s second placed men were handing out a ten-wicket thumping to relegation probables Brewood, leaders Streetly were on their way to a four-wicket loss at home to Newport.

The results mean Bank are just seven points off top spot with two matches remaining and remain eight above third placed Lichfield, who were 62-run victors at Stratford.

Brewood elected to bat but only two players reached double figures as the visiting bowlers ran riot.

Andrzej Jagielski took 3-15 and there were two wickets apiece for Tom Harris, Ryan Blakemore and Joel Haslam to dismiss the hosts for 83 in the 29th over.

Tom Pedley cracked an unbeaten 51 off just 27 balls in reply and Blakemore was unbeaten on 26 as Bank eased to 84-0 off just 9.3 overs to claim 20 points.

Bank have a superb chance to maintain their hot streak on Saturday when they host rock-bottom Nuneaton.
