Umit marks Feckenham return with a goal

UMIT Eminoglu marked his recall with the penalty winner to help Feckenham battled to an excellent 1-0 victory at Bloxwich Town in the Midland League, Division Two.

The Millers made it back-to-back league wins and will look to continue the winning momentum tomorrow (Saturday) when they meet Coton Green in the first round of the Presidents Cup.

The winners will go through to a quarter-final tie against Bloxwich.

Conditions at last Saturday’s windswept clash at the Old Red Lion Ground were tough for both sides but Feckenham dug deep for the points.

A superb second half rear-guard action, with goalkeeper Josh Goddard and his back four simply outstanding, was decisive.

Uminoglu, recalled to side alongside Jack Brimmell, threatened early on with a wind-asisted 30-yard free-kick which smashed off the cross bar and then fired wide.

But Uminoglu seized his chance on 16 minutes Ben Welsh was man-handled in the penalty area following a long throw and the referee pointed to the spot, and Eminoglu fired low to the goalkeeper’s right.

Danny Murphy then fired an angled effort just wide but the Millers escaped when a deflected effort off Joe Nokes and struck the bar.

Bloxwich had the benefit of the conditions in the second period, and hit the bar for a second time.

But Feckenham were denied a second goal on 67 minutes when Ben Ellicott fired home, only to be ruled out for offside.
